Social Media Marketing Class - the final thought

Going into Social Media class I expected to learn a few things about how Social Media is used for businesses and how they can get even more business. Never did I expected to learn all that I have in the class. I have learned that Social Media can be used for much more than just personal usage and that I can have control to what people see when they search for me. I must however understand the platforms and be involved in a few like:

  • LinkedIn
    • has the ability to promote yourself in a completely professional aspect
    • if done right, people will search for you
    • can and if the time and effort is put into it will lead you to the career of your dreams
  • Google plus and the possibilities within
    • all the platforms just within the google world
    • the ability to have circles, followers, organizations, and much much more
    • this will perhaps be our future
  • Twitter
    • the platform with the least live expectancy to a post so you must make it count
    • if done right, you can reach nearly all the followers you have
    • great for promoting, short and sweet
  • Pinterest
    • one of the latest platforms that is up and coming and quickly gaining popularity
    • can have followers
    • can share pictures and things to do very quickly
  • Youtube
    • This platform it is said to be the future, people want to trust you, so, to do so they must see you
    • own by google which makes google plus even better
Coming out of the class I definitely have a different perspective on Social Media. I am totally on board with it and am willing to put the time and effort to create the person I want to be on the World Wide Web, to do so I must be active on all platforms; even if it is for timed sessions to keep on top of it. It will take time but the greatest asset of all that I have gained in this class is to take baby steps and to stick with it.

Social Media - more to it than you think.

Social media is not just about you typing, reading, replying to comments, and getting news; it is also about getting some valuable information that you can use to promote your company, page, product, and even yourself. How can social media do this? you may ask, well, it is through analytics that you can get through most of your social media interaction. These include:

  • Blogger
  • Google analytics
  • Circle count
  • Twitter counter
  • Manage flitter

These websites are able to track the interaction that you are having with your audience, your followers and your circles. With these analytics you can then improve your webpages by promoting to a certain region, targeting a more specific audience that you are reaching, target potential new audience, and change your websites and Social Media plan to be successful. The power of "ANALYTICS" truly can help you improve and reach your goal.

Social Media Class keeps getting insteresting

As we continue to dive into Social Media Marketing class I keep learning of the many possibilities that are out there in Social Media. In order to have a successful social media plan for yourself and or your company you must understand a few thing before you get started:

  • Social Media takes time
  • Start by taking baby steps into it
  • Choose two platforms that you will focus on
  • Set some time for each platform and stick to it
Following these quick tips for your social media plan can get you a greater chance for success and less of a chance of leaving you feeling overwhelm and like you are not getting it. One thing is for certain though, one you have made the decision, STICK WITH IT! in order to reach your Social Media goal.

Spike up your possibilities to land the perfect job with LinkedIN

In today's economy it is extremely hard to search for and even harder to find a job/career. The major reason for this lack of work is because there are lots of people out there looking for work and not enough places to work or looking for new hires. After last Thursday night class I learn that one way to greatly increase your chances of landing the perfect job/career is to have a 'kick ass LInkedIn profile"  There are three main ways to have a "kick ass profile":

  • Have a great headline with key words that highlights what you do and what you are interested in doing this is the most important headline because it is the first thing that people see in your profile
  • Your profile should be client focused. Pretend you are the one looking for somebody, what would you look for? Do not put things like: Owner, CEO, etc. Because people are not looking to fill those positions
  • Include your past experiences in your profile; at least your last three jobs because it may spark additional interest that will benefit you
  • Throughout your profile make sure you have key words that are specific to where you want to go and what you are good at
Having a "kick ass" LinkedIn profile will not guarantee a job but it will increase your odds tremendously. So, the next thing you should do is get on LinkedIn and look at your profile, put yourself in the shoes of a hiring manager and say: would I hire myself? If you are not confident in your profile then spend time and update it to be "kick ass" quality

Third Day of Social Media Class

As we get more in depth in the social media class I have learned a few other things about social media. Here I was thinking I was technologically savy and I could get around through most of the new advances but I have learned that there is much to learn about be socially active. Some of the things I have done include:

  • Updated my LinkedIn profile to be more proffesional than what I have had it before; this I believe led to be reached by a recruter wanting to talk to me about a possible job
  • I have created a company page and am learning to manage a page of my own, this of course takes time but it will give me useful data. Check out the page at: www.facebook.com/Beerfanatics
  • I have begun to get a YouTube channel together, I have an idea for my first video which will compliment my FB page.
Becoming more socially active is not difficult but it is time consuming. Another thing that I am working on is how to created my social media plan because I want to be in control of what people see when they search for me thus I need to work on it.

Until next class

Sincerely,

Eduardo

Gobbler Hobbler 10K Run - Oswego Illinois

Need a reason to run prior to the big Thanksgiving feasts? How about trying to level the field between calories intake vs burn. This coming weekend is the Gobbler Hobbler 10K run in the small town of Oswego, IL. come out and support the local park district while getting healthier doing so. The Gobbler Hobbler is a great family event in which all can par take, besides the 10K there is also a Mash Potato mile for the little ones.  A few more reasons to run this weekend are:

  • The average adult consumes about 4500 calories on Thanksgiving Day, wow, that is a lot of calories so a good run that will burn about 700 can reduce that by a bit.
  • Running relieves stress; what better way to relief some stress from all the planning that Thanksgiving and the holidays take. Come out this weekend and relief some at the Gobbler Hobbler 10K.
  • Feeling a bit depressed lately? Running will sure take care of that. You can find the benefits within the first mile run, trust me, I know.
Those are much more benefits to running but those three on top are just a few to get you going. So, come on out to Oswego's Fox Chase Elementary for the run and i'll see you at the finish line!!!www.oswegolandparkdistrict.org/Events/Gobbler-Hobbler.htm
